After opening a branch in Goroka in 2024, Moni Plus secured its first naming rights with The Bilum Meri – an event focusing on women and their economic empowerment while celebrating the value of one of Papua New Guinea's ancient cultural practices, the “bilum”. What started as a small annual bilum competition and fashion show is now a fully fledged festival program. Ms. Florence Jaukae is famously known for her team’s incredible work with bilum design locally and internationally in the fashion industry. With Moni Plus on board as sponsor, it enabled the construction of a much wider stage for the models to show off their bilum dresses. Additionally, Moni Plus’ support enabled the festival’s management to donate 10% of the festival income to the community.
Naming rights support as Amity competes in Australia, Fiji and Samoa.
Twelve schools and 300 students took part in the 2025 competition.
